WILDLIFE CRIME |
||
Sadly there has been an increase in wildlife crime nationally. The local Sidcup cluster neighbourhood teams are aware of reports of wildlife being injured or killed within the local area, in particular in and around Footscray Meadows. While some may view this as a bit of harmless fun, the suffering caused to these animals is unacceptable regardless of what animal it may be and causing harm/suffering/injury or the killing of certain animals is a criminal offence and those caught committing these offences will be dealt with robustly. There will be increased patrols of this area over the coming weeks. If you witness anyone committing this type of crime or know those responsible please report it to police via 101, online at www.met.police.uk, call or message Sidcup SNT on 07464492489, message via MetEngage or alternatively report using crimestoppers. Parents, it seems that catapults/slingshots are the latest thing to have amongst young people currently. These items are commonly used to injure or kill wildlife as well as causing criminal damage to property. Please refrain from allowing your child to walk the streets with catapults/slingshots. There is no necessity for this item to be carried around in public. If officers suspect your child is in possession of a catapult/slingshot and engaging in this activity, your child will be searched and the catapult/slingshot will be seized. | ||
